New Programs
Professional Assistance Counselling Program
At Crisci and Mayer, we work with very challenging child abuse situations and traumatic events of all kinds. After more than three decades, we continue to feel positive and actively engaged with our work.
It is our experience that in order to maintain perspective and energy counselors require the acquisition of specific skills.
Our program provides confidential counselling and consultation to professionals who want to work with an experienced therapist who understands the challenges facing them.
We work with such concerns as childhood /family of origin issues, relationship problems, secondary trauma, compassion fatigue, worries about workplace dilemmas and work-life balance. Caring and conscientious professionals work hard to deliver excellent service to clients while maintaining a healthy personal life. In this difficult, elusive task, previous solutions may have fallen short or situations may have changed. Our goal is to assist professionals to develop the skill set to support a balanced life and achieve their practice goals.

Supporting Adoption Successes
Due to our success with complex and difficult to serve populations we have had an increase in requests to provide services to children placed on adoption who have histories of early trauma and neglect, violent homes, adoption break-down and post-adoption struggles.
This program will offer consultation, training and clinical services (both assessment and treatment) to agencies and families.
Sibling Sexual Abuse Assessment and Treatment
In the past eighteen months requests for services for these complex cases has tripled. We are expanding our efforts through additional staffing in order to provide prompt and effective services to these most challenging situations.
Investigative Interviewing of the Preschool Child
This training continues to be one of our most requested, north and south of the border. The challenges for Law Enforcement and Protection Agencies are multi-level, requiring interdisciplinary coordination. This program will be enhanced by the addition of Detective Wendy Leaver , a well known and highly regarded Toronto Police Services officer, who will be joining our training team.
Treatment for those who Self-Harm
We continue as a referral source for S.A.F.E. Alternatives (Dr. Wendy Lader and Karen Conterrio’s program for individuals who engage in self-harm behaviours, based in the U.S.) We offer assessment and treatment services for adults and youth who engage in these behaviours.
